C’mon graduates, save your seat in the working world

With graduation around the corner, reality is about to hit you harder than a hangover after a big night out. Why let reality take over when you can start your job search now!


The part-time job you’ve had over the past couple of years was good enough to get you through high school and uni, but now it’s time to make the big step into in the working world.

The expectations from employers are on the rise as many of them are looking for graduates to fill the entry-level vacancies. Expectations range from previous internship experiences, projects you’ve worked on at uni, and how you communicate and work independently and in a team. 

The search for the job you want is not an easy one, but there are many options that will help you reach your goal. Don’t feel disheartened if you don’t get a senior role, remember you need experience and we all start from the bottom to reach the top. Try doing internships while you’re at uni is a great way to gain valuable work experience while you study.

To be on top of your game, make sure your CV is updated, the cover letters that you send are formatted and written correctly to give you the best chance at landing an interview. It’s also a great idea to follow up with a phone call to show your interest in the role. 

Expand your horizons outside of uni, try volunteering and taking on other activities that will help you grow and learn new skills and be sure to add these relevant experiences to your CV. It’s also a good idea to take a quick scan of your social media, clean up anything you think may hinder you job search.
