August Unemployment Figures Lowest Since 2013

The ABS have released their Labour Figures for August 2016 and unemployment is at a 3 year low at 5.6%.

There has been a steady growth in part-time work and we will continue to see the shift over the coming months leading into the Christmas period.

The Program Manager of ABS’ Labour and Income Branch, Jacqui Jones said that “the latest Labour Force release shows continued strength in part-time employment growth, with the majority coming from increasing male part-time employment. Since December 2015, there are now around 105,300 more persons working part-time, compared with a 21,500 decrease in those working full-time”.

An overview of the nation stated that Victoria, South Australia and Tassie have seen increases in employment. NSW and Queensland saw a large decrease in employment participation.
